Dover Carnival, Night One

Just got back from the first night of the carnival, and it’s living up to the hype. At this grand event, it’s possible to see Dover’s worst: underage drinking, underage smoking, mullets, and socially intolerant t-shirts. However, at the same time, it’s a reunion of friends; that’s why I love it.

Something small did tick me off though. Often, at carnival events like these, attendees have a choice to either purchase tickets or a wristband. A certain number of tickets are used to ride specific rides, or a fifteen dollar wristband lets a person ride unlimited times. For heavy-volume riders like me, it’s a ‘great’ deal. Obviously, I was interested in finding out what days the wristbands are available, and thus inquired with the ticket booth. I asked what nights the wristbands are available, and a benign-looking lady told me Wednesday night only.

I reiterated, asking if she was sure that it was Wednesday night only. She gave me the same answer as before, highly confident. Unfortunately, that was a blatant lie; they’re doing wristbands on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. She expected me to jump on this ‘one time’ opportunity, and spring for a wristband. I didn’t, and held off until later that night. Personally, I don’t care how much money they want to make. Don’t lie to your costumers, it’s bad policy.

Later this week I’ll have some photos up from the carnival and an adventure I went on earlier this week…
