Mac OS X Leopard, October 26

The release date for the next major version of Apple’s Operating System, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, is October 26. Two Fridays from now, users will be able to purchase a copy of the next big cat and upgrade their systems. I’m quite excited, but won’t be upgrading immediately. I can’t afford to upgrade until I’m sure that Leopard is fully compatible with the software and hardware I use for Disk Jockeying. However, I’ll be upgrading my sister’s computer almost immediately, and plan to have a full review sometime soon after.

It’s hard to read over the list of 300 new features and realize that I have to wait. Bah.

    As a non-mac user, I can’t say I’m excited. Hopefully, no bricking results. =P

    As a non-mac user, you really shouldn’t be. :P

I don’t see bricking in the future. I’m hoping Apple’s roots as a computer company win out over its recent shift to a consumer electronics company. Hoping…

Yes. Another Mac OS X Edition. Yay. Sarcasm galore.

Michael, I would actually be excited. Read over the feature list:

Some of them are ridiculous; however, a lot of them are really going to increase productivity for me.

New UI, Better Boot Camp, new Finder and Desktop, Wikipedia built-in to Dictionary, new Front Row, built-in To-do lists, new Photo Booth, new Preview, better Printer support (including driver updating), Quick Look, Security improvements, Spaces, Grammar Check, better Disk Utility, improved TextEdit, Time Machine, Alex.

    That’s what I’m excited about.

Yes. But what would it do for me? I am extremely content with what I have (Tiger) and upgrading would cost me valuable time and money. Right? Unless Macs upgrade better than PCs… but I’m new to Apple Computers, so I wouldn’t.

P.S. Although, the Dashcode, Desktop, iChat, Finder, PhotoBooth, QuickLook, and TimeMachine upgrades all appeal to me…

“Unless Macs upgrade better than PCs…”

Think about what you just said. Of course they do! And it’s not that expensive, $129. It’s even less with a student discount, and even less with an “Internet discount”.

    Extremely content…Extremely….Con…tent.
    Hmm.

@ Chris: Haha. An oxymoron. Good job.

@ Ricky: I like internet discounts.
