Third-Party Apps

Facebook applications annoy me sometimes.
This showed up in my news feed today:

8 of your friends are now friends with Person A on Flixster Movies.
Person A is using Flixster to compare movie taste and share recommendations with Person B.

This type of thing usually doesn’t bother me, except that I’ve specifically blocked Person A using Facebook’s privacy settings. This means that third-party applications don’t abide by facebook’s privacy rules! That’s scary.

“News Feed” should be renamed “Stalker Feed.”

The News Feed is the most interesting aspect of Facebook, and something that I really enjoy. But, it should respect global privacy settings.

Facebook will become very interesting in the coming months.
